Mike’s birthday has been celebrated on Beaver Island, most populated of the archipelago in Northeast Lake Michigan, for nearly three decades. New since last year were free charging stations for electric vehicles and definitive evidence of a cohesive community.
They had an electric vehicle “convention” in June of 2008.

I didn’t bring my Merida Pedelec this time but we did circumnavigate the Island, 41 miles worth of mostly unpaved roads, on a recumbent and mountain bike.
