Duty trip to Florida allowed transporting my Merida EV there so it will be available for use. After a couple of hundred extra miles it seems “broken in”, or my fitness allowed me to complete 25 mile rides with 5 mile nearly continuous powerup finishes (help from Grandpa Chas’ work at EV) and still have 1/2 charge left on the gauge. I did blow the front tire, overinflated, but don’t think the new tire has anything to do with the increase in range – the drag is gone. The “Power Boost” modification may have accelerated the wear in cycle too. I wonder about lubrication inside the transmission and the extra heat produced with the modification.
So, my battery life is extended but I’m still looking at batteries and found LifeBatt. An interesting and informative website with an emphasis on LiFePO4 solutions, a comprehensive and detailed pdf on Peak Oil is worth viewing.
